New Aardman UK 50p Celebrates 50 Years of Stop-Motion Magic!
Cracking news, coin collectors! The Royal Mint has unveiled a brand-new UK 50p celebrating 50 years of Aardman, the award-winning animation studio behind some of Britain’s best-loved characters.
From the cheese-obsessed Wallace and his faithful dog Gromit, to the mischievous Shaun the Sheep and adorable Timmy, Aardman’s creations have entertained generations with their unmistakable charm, humour and stop-motion brilliance.
Now, these iconic characters have come together on a brand-new UK 50p, issued in celebration of Aardman’s incredible 50-year journey.
Lights, Camera… Claymation!
Since its founding in 1976, Aardman has become one of the world’s most successful animation studios, earning Academy Awards, BAFTAs and international acclaim.
Known for its distinctive stop-motion animation style and unforgettable storytelling, Aardman has created some of the most recognisable characters in British popular culture.
To celebrate this remarkable milestone, The Royal Mint worked in partnership with Aardman to create a commemorative 50p featuring several fan-favourite faces, making this a must-have coin for collectors and animation lovers alike.
Aardman Returns to the 50p
Long-time collectors might remember that this isn’t Aardman’s first appearance on a UK coin.

Back in 2019, The Royal Mint celebrated the 30th anniversary of A Grand Day Out with a special Wallace and Gromit 50p. Designed by Wallace and Gromit creator Nick Park, the coin featured the famous duo inside their homemade rocket.
The coin proved hugely popular with collectors and has since completely SOLD OUT at The Royal Mint.
Incredible Demand at 50p Swap Event
If the reaction to the Wallace and Gromit 50p coin is anything to go by, collectors will need to move quickly to secure this new release.

Back in 2020, we took the Wallace and Gromit 50p to a 50p swap event at St David’s Shopping Centre in Cardiff – and the response was incredible!
Collectors and fans began queuing early in anticipation, with demand quickly exceeding expectations.
The result?
All 1,000 Wallace and Gromit 50p swaps were gone by 10am – just 30 minutes after the event opened!
It remains one of the most memorable swap events we’ve ever held and proves just how much collectors love Aardman’s unmistakable creations.
Will This Be the Next Must-Have 50p?
Combining beloved characters, a major anniversary and one of Britain’s most celebrated creative success stories, the new Aardman 50p has all the ingredients of a future collector favourite.
Will you be adding the new Aardman 50p to your collection?
