We were offering collectors the chance to get their hands on a brand new Red Arrows 50p for just face value in our 50p swap, however with just 750 coins to swap per day and unprecedented demand, they didn’t last long!

Hundreds of 50ps gone in hours!

Thousands of excited aviation fans lined up at the showground gates, and flocked to the Change Checker stand as soon as the show opened. On the first day, we completely swapped out of all our Red Arrows 50ps by 4pm, the next day we ran out by 10.49am and on the final day, every coin had been swapped by 9.52am!

Our queues grew day by day, as more and more people heard about the incredible opportunity to get their hands on a Red Arrows 50p for just 50p, resulting in thousands of people lining up for their chance to take part in the swap.

In fact, we were even told by event organisers to shut it down due to the overwhelming queues!

Lucky Dip madness

Each day, we also ran a Lucky Dip to give collectors the chance to take home something even more special. For just 50p, participants could dip for a Red Arrows 50p – and if their coin had a silver star sticker on the back, they also walked away with a Silver Proof Red Arrows 50p worth £75!

These moments of surprise and delight became some of the highlights of the event, as lucky winners were handed a premium coin they’ll treasure for years to come.
