2022 Change Checker Awards – Winners Revealed!
The 2022 Change Checker Awards were opened to celebrate the very best collectors of Queen Elizabeth II coins.
It’s been wonderful to see all your entries – a testament to all the fantastic UK coins we’ve seen issued during Her Late Majesty’s reign. And, of course, your dedication to our beloved hobby!
But our well deserved winners have now been selected…
Change Checker of the Year
Jack Follows has built an incredible collection of Queen Elizabeth II coins, including the now-out-of-circulation round pounds.
We loved his tribute to Her Late Majesty, so a huge congratulations goes to him as he takes the crown as this year’s Change Checker of the Year!
Junior Change Checker of the Year
In another touching tribute to Queen Elizabeth II, Hector Kirk Wiggins, spelt out the royal cypher, EIIR with his impressive coin collection.
A huge congratulations to you Hector as you are this year’s victorious Junior Change Checker.

Last individual QEII UK commemorative 50p
This 50p has been confirmed to be the last individual UK commemorative 50p to feature Queen Elizabeth II’s portrait on the obverse. This is sure to make this individual coin highly sought-after.
But the whole Harry Potter 50p series has a very interesting story…
It’s unlike any other.
The series includes both Queen Elizabeth II and King Charles III’s portraits on them.
The Harry Potter and Hogwarts Express 50p coins feature the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II on the obverse.
However, the coins issued next year (Albus Dumbledore and Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry 50ps) will feature King Charles III’s portrait on the obverse.
This is sure to make the series even more popular with collectors, as they race to collect the last UK commemorative QEII coins, alongside some of the very first KCIII coins.

Unique to the Harry Potter 50p series, a lightning bolt lenticular feature appears on the reverse design of the 2022 UK Hogwarts Express 50p coin.
When tilted, the lightning bolt transforms into the number 25, in celebration of the first book’s anniversary.
This has been catching the attention of collectors since it first appeared on the 2022 UK Harry Potter 50p.
The best way to view this lenticular feature is with the Change Checker Phone Magnifier!

Celebrating 60 years of iconic rock band The Rolling Stones, The Royal Mint have issued a UK £5 coin!

The design sees the band in concert, with their name above them and dates ‘62-‘22 at the bottom, representing the anniversary. You’ll also spot Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on the obverse.

The Rolling Stones have played some incredible tours over the last 60 years, with their most recent in 2022!
